Three adults, a child and their pet dog were displaced when a fire at a vacant house next door spread to their home Wednesday afternoon, according to Las Vegas Fire & Rescue.
Officials credited the firefighters for preventing the flames from causing more than $10,000 in monetary damage.
Crews were summoned to a vacant, burning house on Pebble Beach Boulevard, near Decatur Boulevard and Vegas Drive, about 1:30 p.m.
There, they found that the one-story house was heavily engulfed in flames and that “the fire was spreading to a house next door,” officials said.
The fire damaged the occupied house’s eaves, roof and attic, officials said.
The house where the fire was sparked has been vacant for several years but taken over by squatters, officials said.
The investigation into the cause was ongoing. No one was injured.
